A Penitent Blogger...

What happened? Summer came and went- I know it was said we would update the summer activities. Well the update is here, just not play by play- summer in rewind...

Scoutcamp- JT spent a great week at scoutcamp- Camp Hunt at Bear Lake. This was his last summer camp as a Boy Scout- (he turns 14 in November and will become a varsity scout). JT earned a number of merit badges and enjoyed spending time with his friends and camping. He earned enough merit badges to qualify for a bronze palm. He currently is working on his eagle project and should earn his eagle before the end of the year. We are very proud of JT's dedication and enthusiasm for scouting. He has been blessed with incredible scout leaders who have helped him understand and reach his potential. Thank you Scout Leaders!!

Rachel has enjoyed a tremend0us soccer season- The Pink Panda's have had a successful season. Rachel and her team have worked hard and have enjoyed a near perfect record. Hats off to her coach- Scott Whetsel - for his help with the team. I had never thought I would see a soccer coach in a shirt and tie at a game- but when you build a dynasty- you should dress the part! :)

Becca is currently playing volleyball. She is playing with her friends and is having a lot of fun. Her team is successful and they are developing into quite the squad! I always enjoyed playing volleyball- but never could quite measure up to my better half's ability! Deanna should watch out- Becca will give her a run for her money!

JT has been enjoying the summer golfing and hanging out with his friends. He currently is playing football for Hillcrest. JT has been playing wide receiver for most of the season and with his stature is an easy target. He has had a lot of success with the team. He plays backup QB, and in one game threw 3 TD's!! The family enjoys going to the games, tailgating and cheering them on.

The team will be going to Las Vegas for a football tournament over Thanksgiving this year. It will be a blast!!

We enjoyed trips this year to Jackson Hole, Moon Lake and Park City. I also spent some days with the youth in the ward at Pioneer Trek in Wyoming. I could write all the details- but don't want to bore you with words- just check out the pictures to see the fun our family has had this summer.

Although the summer activities are over- it simply ushers in fall activities. We plan on heading to Moab in November for our annual pilgrimage to Arches.

Our life is full of surprises too- With the turn of economic times hitting all of us, I have experienced change in the work force. Merrill Lynch has merged with Bank of America. It is definitely a time of uncertainty. Although we do not know the outcome of this change, I am optimistic that opportunity will arise and all will be well. No matter what happens, I appreciate the support and concern from family and friends. You are all truly inspirational!!

This is about it for now. I will attempt to keep current and will 'cross-train' the family on updating the site. I smell a family home evening topic!!

Take care all and be good...

Hey, and I found you... oh my word. Mark got laid off in August. We actually were given 90 days which ended in August. He had been looking for 3 months and got a job with Washington Mutual which started Aug. 25th and I'm sure you know the rest of the story. We have a job for sure until Dec 1 and then it will depend on which group he ends up with if he will continue. We have had many wonderful experiences and like you have many who are praying for us and know that things will work out. Hey, we have 2 guest rooms and for now I'm not working (that may change). I'll keep reading to keep up with you guys... the kids have gotten so big. You'll be in our prayers. L & M

Hey Ekbergs! You have a great looking family, and I'm glad everything is going so busy and well with you! This may be our form of keeping in touch, since I don't think a reunion is in the works any time soon. Take care! -Trisha
